It’s the oldest tourist attraction in Key West, built in the 1930s. It’s still a good place to visit, especially if you have children. There’s also a shark pool, but don’t worry, these are just nurse sharks, the non-agressive type with no real teeth to speak of!

No Key West travel guide would be complete without mention of Duval Street. This is Key West’s main thoroughfare for shopping, dining, attractions, and bars. You can walk clear across the island on Duval, and the further you go south, the nicer it gets. See galleries, boutiques, and live shows, it’s entertaining any time of day.

We also think a Key West travel guide should include mention of Dry Tortugas, even though they’re not in Key West. Dry Tortugas are 80 miles west of the Southernmost City, accessible only by boat or sea plane. There are tourist boats going out every day from Key West, for full day excursions. Well worth the trip! There’s an old Civil War fort called Fort Jefferson, as well as snorkeling and bird-watching opportunities. You can also take private fishing charters out to Dry Tortugas National park.
